Starting Therapy Can Feel Uncertain — This Page Is Here to Help

Beginning therapy often comes with a mix of hope, nerves, and questions. Whether this is your first time in therapy or you’re returning after a break, my goal is for you to feel informed, supported, and empowered from the very start.

This page walks you through what you can expect from the first consultation, your first session, and ongoing therapy at Amplify Mental Health.

  • When you reach out through the Connect page, I’ll respond within 24–48 business hours to help schedule your consultation.

    During your consultation, we will:

    • Talk briefly about what’s bringing you to therapy

    • Explore your goals and what you’re hoping for support around

    • Review scheduling, payment options, and next steps

    • Get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit

There is no pressure to commit during the consultation. This conversation is simply a space to explore your options with clarity and support.

  • Once you decide to move forward, you’ll receive:

    • Secure intake forms

    • Your HIPAA-secure telehealth link

    • Clear instructions for logging into your session

Everything is completed electronically so you can focus on showing up for yourself — not navigating paperwork.

  • Your first session is a space to slow down and begin getting oriented to the therapy process.

    Together, we will:

    • Explore what’s been weighing on you

    • Talk about your history only at a pace that feels safe

    • Clarify what you’d like to work on

    • Begin shaping goals that feel realistic and meaningful

You never have to share more than you’re ready to. Therapy moves at your pace, always.

  • What Ongoing Sessions Look Like

    Sessions are:

    • Held securely via telehealth

    • Available to individuals and couples located in Pennsylvania

In ongoing work, sessions often include:

    • Checking in on how the week has been

    • Exploring patterns, emotions, and relationships

    • Practicing tools for regulation, insight, and coping

    • Identifying takeaways you can carry forward

Some sessions may feel reflective, others more skills-based — all guided by what you need in that moment.

You Don’t Need to Have Everything Figured Out

Many people worry they need the “right words” before starting therapy. You don’t.

You can begin with:

  • “I don’t know where to start.”

  • “Something feels off.”

  • “I just know I need support.”

That’s enough.

Pacing, Boundaries & Fit

Therapy at Amplify is collaborative and grounded in:

  • Emotional safety

  • Clear communication

  • Respect for your autonomy

  • Cultural responsiveness

  • Honoring your lived experiences

If at any point something doesn’t feel helpful, you’re always encouraged to name it. Therapy works best when it’s shaped together.

Payment & Accessibility

To help keep care accessible, I offer:

  • Insurance through Headway & Alma

  • Out-of-network benefits through Thrizer

  • Private pay

  • Limited sliding-scale openings through Open Path

Thrizer helps you use out-of-network insurance benefits with clear upfront estimates and reimbursement support.

All options are reviewed during your consultation so you can make informed choices without pressure.
